One of the early proposals for the structure of Rich Mix was visualised using a scientific vernacular. The idea represented how the foundations of Rich Mix would be built on clusters of individuals, groups and organisations whose network would fund and fuel the project. These cluster visuals were used decoratively during the fit-out of the project and here during a fundraising event as badges for business and political guests.

The photographic identity of Rich Mix was carried through into information about the building. This map gave a 3D impression of the building.

Throughout Rich Mix’s development we showcased the project at fundraising events. These napkins were part of a presentation given during a dinner at Thomas Goode in Mayfair. The artist Reza Aramesh created a live installation for the evening and the Rich Mix project was showcased in an electic environment of fancy tableware.

Visual research of the local area was a key part of the Rich Mix identity. I was briefed to capture the spirit of East London with its multi-faceted influences – the Bengali Bethnal Green, the Shoreditch ‘cool’ and the Bishopgate’s Business attitude all a stone’s throw from the building. Around the time a ‘mysterious’ street artist started these brilliant typographic shop fronts – later to reveal himself as Eine. They worked perfectly with the localised identity of Rich Mix.

Rich Mix is London’s up and coming cross-arts centre based in Shoreditch, the heart of East London. I started working with the Rich Mix development team before the building opened to the public. We worked on huge cross-section of projects from business plans, to building development presentations, fundraising events to visual research and, once open, the marketing and branding of the building.
